Minstrel launched 16th October 2014
Our latest beer in the Craft Hop range is a 4.5% vol. very pale ale called Minstrel. It is triple hopped with a brand new English Hop variety called Minstrel for a generous helping of spiced berries and orange/grapefruit flavours. Delicious!
Minstrel was only ramped up to full scale production this year so we're very lucky to be one of the first breweries to brew with this hop. It has been developed under development code CF101 by hop merchant Charles Faram as part of their Hop Development Program which aims to produce different English hops which can compete with hops from around the world with 'New World' characteristics like those from America and New Zealand. We're delighted with the results and the beer is fantastic. It has a high farnesene level (7-9%) which gives it a very drinkable characteristic. Don't expect it to be around in pubs and the Brewery shop forever though - we'll probably be moving onto our next Craft Hop beer at the start of November! Definately not one to miss!
Using a similar principle to wine boxes, we can supply our award winning draught beer in boxes so that you can serve draught beer at home all through the festive period. We can supply beer bright or sedimented. During the summer we recommend that all beer is bright unless you have the facilities to keep it at 10-14C.
Bright beer is where we decant the beer into the boxes from casks that we have settled in the brewery. They are clear and ready to drink immediately and they have a best before date of 3 days from collection from the brewery. If you would like to have some beer that you can drink over Christmas and through to January, then you should consider sedimented beer.
Sedimented beer still has the yeast in the box and so has a shelf life of 4 weeks from when we pour it. For Sedimented beer the beer has to be left in a cool place for 24 hours in its final position so that the yeast drops to the bottom of the container, allowing you to draw off clear beer, in much the same way that the publican has to leave our casks for 24 hours in their pub before they can connect them up to the handpull to serve clear beer. The garage or a cool room is the best place for these to be stored.
Please phone us to pre-order your minipins and polypins to avoid delays and disappointment.
Please try to help us speed up your beer collection by ordering minipins and polypins in advance (even if it is only a couple of hours). You can pay by card over the phone and then fast track your pickup by skipping any queue. Of course we will still pour you a minipin or polypin if you walk into the shop, but it will take a few minutes to prepare. Priority is given to those that have pre-ordered so if the want to make sure you get the real ale you want, then make sure you phone us in advance.
We moved into our premises in Ruscombe, near Reading, Berks at the end of August 2010 and spent the next couple of months moulding the premises to be suitable for a real ale brewery producing beers with character and quality. Our first brew was mid November 2010 and we launched with four ales: Twyford Tipple, Brickworks Bitter, Doodle Stout and Coffee Stout. Space Hoppy IPA joined the regulars in March 2011. Vanilla Stout was so popular when it was brewed as a special for the meet the brewer and the launch of the IPA that we're keeping it on as a regular too!
We deliver our beer to pubs across Berkshire including Reading, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Windsor and Slough. In addition we also supply to Henley, High Wycombe and into West London including Chiswick, Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston. We also supply direct to the public in our on-site shop and online.
Keep a look out for us at beer festivals too such as Reading Beer Festival, Reading Real Ale and Jazz Festival, Twyford Beer Festival, Windsor Beer Festival and many more. We have now started supplying through Wholesalers nationally so beer festivals up and down the country should be able to get our beer!
For £10 you can book a tour by appointment on Saturdays at 3pm. Price includes guided tour and 4 pints of Binghams Beer. The designated driver can take away a 2 litre container instead of drinking on-site.

- Beer is racked bright, ready to be consumed immediately and is best consumed within 48 hours, and does not need to be left to settle, unless you have specifically requested sedimented beer. Sedimented beer has a longer shelf life (normally over 2 weeks) but does require 24 hours to settle and you lose a couple of pints per minipin or polypin due to the sediment.
